According to writer Bich Ngan, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association and co-chair of the competition, after a year of launching the competition, the organizing committee received 1,166 short stories from nearly a thousand authors from all over the country and overseas Vietnamese.

The preliminary judging panel selected 259 short stories published in the Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Magazine, and the final judging panel selected 40 stories for the final round, subsequently "identifying" 12 outstanding short stories to award prizes.
Results: Second prize (no first prize: 15 million VND/prize) was awarded to two authors: Cao Chien (Ho Chi Minh City) for the story "The Traditional House in Trang Village" and Le Hang ( Da Nang ) for the short story " How Much Does a Million Views Cost?" ( photo ).
Three third prizes (7 million VND each) were awarded to Tran Thai Hung ( Hai Phong ) for his short story "Camera" ; Vo Dang Khoa ( An Giang ) for "The Mirror" ; and Le Quang Trang (An Giang) for "The Nirvana of the Maiden" . Five consolation prizes (5 million VND each) went to the following works: "Seven Paths of Love" (Dao Phong Lan); "Letting Go" (Nguyen Phuoc Thao); "Jealousy" (Bui Khanh Nguyen); "The Soul-Summoning Fire" (Dao Thu Ha); and "The Ceiling Above You" (Dieu Ai). The Young Author Award (5 million VND each) went to: "Behind the Cut" (Hoang Yen) and "Where the Wall Was Demolished" (Duong Gia Han).
On this occasion, the Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Magazine officially launched the 2023 Poetry Contest (accepting entries from May 1st to February 29th, 2024), and simultaneously pressed the button to launch the Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Magazine's online platform and introduce its first issue (new series), marking the return of the Knowledge Today Magazine to its readers.
