Students at Quang Kim Primary School (Bat Xat, Lao Cai ) are in an area deeply submerged in floodwaters 1-2 meters deep. Nearly 100 students had their textbooks damaged or lost. To enable students to return to school on September 16th, the school has sought assistance from various sources to obtain textbooks. Representatives from the Vietnam Education Publishing House stated that preliminary statistics show 25 provinces in the northern region were affected by Typhoon No. 3. Approximately 190 textbooks for students from grades 1 to 12 need to be supplied to these localities (excluding elective specialized textbooks for high school).

Following the directives of the Ministry of Education and Training , the Vietnam Education Publishing House has mobilized all its resources to print an additional 10 million copies of textbooks.

Along with the books currently in stock, the unit can supply 18 million textbooks. However, it will take another 1-2 weeks to get the exact number of additional textbooks needed by localities. If there is still a shortage, more will be printed.

The Vietnam Education Publishing House stated that the cost of printing 10 million copies of textbooks, based on average unit prices, is estimated at less than 30 billion VND. All additional textbooks printed to provide to students affected by the storms and floods will be distributed with a spirit of service.

Specifically, the number of textbooks printed by this publisher to supply the flood-affected areas will be reduced by 10% of the cover price (equivalent to about 50% of the publishing cost). In addition, the unit will allocate a sum of money to donate some textbooks to students in the severely affected areas.

As of September 18th, the Vietnam Education Publishing House had donated 2,200 sets of textbooks to the most severely affected provinces, including Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Lang Son, Tuyen Quang, and Thai Nguyen... The value of the donated books is 550 million VND.

Previously, the Vietnam Education Publishing House donated 620 million VND to people affected by storms and floods through the Vietnam Education Sector Trade Union.

Hundreds of students at Quang Kim Primary School in Bat Xat, Lao Cai, lost their books and school supplies because they couldn't escape the floods in time. In the first few days back at school, many backpacks were empty due to the lack of textbooks.
