Prime Minister: Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 for peace and friendship

According to the Prime Minister, the Vietnam International Defence Exhibition 2024 affirms Vietnam's role and contribution to international defense cooperation; it is a symbol of cooperation for a peaceful world.


Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the opening ceremony of the Vietnam International Defence Exhibition 2024.

To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day, on the morning of December 19th, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the opening ceremony of the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 - a key event and a highlight of international significance and scale.

Also attending were members of the Politburo: Standing Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh; Minister of National Defense, General Phan Van Giang; and Minister of Public Security, General Luong Tam Quang.

Also present were Trinh Van Quyet, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army; Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; Tran Quang Phuong, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; Ministers of Defense of Laos, Cambodia, Cuba, Belarus, Thailand, Brunei, and Mongolia; leaders of central and local ministries, departments, and agencies; representatives of embassies and international organizations in Vietnam; and leaders of the Ministries of Defense and military commanders of various countries.

The opening ceremony was a grand event featuring spectacular artistic performances by over 2,000 officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army; notably, a welcoming flight by the Vietnam Air Force, a martial arts demonstration by the Special Forces, and a showcase of professional skills by Border Guard military dogs.

Speaking at the opening ceremony and pressing the button to officially open the Exhibition, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that the Vietnam International Defence Exhibition 2024 is of special significance, a prominent international event with the message "Peace - Cooperation - Development," contributing to promoting foreign relations and defense cooperation in all fields; for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam is a peace-loving nation that values ​​righteousness, compassion, and justice in its international cooperation relations.

Vietnam consistently pursues a foreign policy of "independence, self-reliance, multilateralism, diversification of relations, being a good friend and reliable partner with all countries, and being an active and responsible member of the international community."

Vietnam proactively promotes and expands its foreign relations and defense cooperation to strengthen friendship and mutual understanding, demonstrate sincerity, build trust, and jointly address common security and safety challenges, prevent conflicts, and combat war in accordance with the fundamental principles of international law; contributing to peace, prosperity, and cooperative development in the region and the world.

According to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, having experienced much suffering, sacrifice, and loss due to war, Vietnam understands and cherishes the value of friendship, peace, cooperation, and development.

Vietnam is committed to its "four no's" defense policy, which includes: not participating in military alliances, not aligning with one country against another, not allowing foreign countries to establish military bases or use its territory to attack other countries, and not using force or threatening to use force in international relations.

Vietnam advocates building a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern army; and developing a sufficiently strong national defense capability to enhance self-defense and protect the country early, from afar, and from its point of origin.

Vietnam's strategic orientation is to develop a proactive, self-reliant, self-strengthening, dual-use, modern, and internationally integrated defense industry; prioritizing research, development, and application of advanced science and technology in the defense industry to optimize dual-use capabilities, simultaneously enhancing national defense potential and developing the economy, serving the country's strategic interests and the practical lives of its people.

The Vietnam International Defence Exhibition 2024 affirms Vietnam's role and contribution to international defense cooperation; it is a symbol of trust, respect, and goodwill for cooperation among nations for a peaceful, stable, and prosperous world; and it is a vivid testament to the meaningful support and affection of international friends for the country, people, and the Vietnam People's Army – the heroic army of a heroic nation, always demonstrating sincerity, trustworthiness, and responsibility towards international friends.

The Prime Minister stated that the participation of 66 international delegations and more than 240 defense industry enterprises from 49 countries demonstrates the prestige and brand of Vietnam in organizing the Defense Exhibition.

General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defence, welcomed Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to the Vietnam International Defence Exhibition 2024.

The Vietnam International Defence Exhibition 2024 is an opportunity to further strengthen relations and also a chance for Vietnam to welcome and express gratitude to international friends, share culture, art, and cuisine, and introduce the country and people of Vietnam - a resilient and courageous nation in defending the homeland, yet peace-loving, hardworking, creative, friendly, and hospitable.

Expressing sincere gratitude to the international guests, businesses, corporations, and military-industrial and security companies from participating countries, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his confidence that the Vietnam International Defence Exhibition 2024 will be a great success, providing many opportunities for exchange, sharing experiences, exchanging scientific and technological advancements, promoting innovation and digital transformation, and opening up a promising future of cooperation, in line with the spirit of "Peace, friendship, cooperation and mutual development."

The Vietnam International Defence Exhibition 2024 was held at Gia Lam Airport, Hanoi from December 19 to 22, covering a total area of ​​over 100,000 square meters, with 15,000 square meters of indoor exhibition space and over 20,000 square meters of outdoor space.

The exhibition featured over 200 domestic and international companies and businesses from more than 30 countries in the ASEAN region, Asia, Europe, and America, including China, the United States, Russia, India, Israel, France, the United Kingdom, and Spain.

Participating in the exhibition, Vietnam showcased 69 types of military equipment and weapons from 77 units, products of its own defense industry, such as the Military Industry and Telecommunications Group (Viettel), factories Z111, Z113, Z131, Z175, member companies under the General Department of Defense Industry, and companies directly under the Ministry of National Defense.

At the exhibition, many types of weapons and equipment were showcased, such as aircraft, tanks, missiles, self-propelled artillery, armored vehicles, combat vehicles, radar, unmanned aerial vehicles, and various types of guns and ammunition.

Weapon systems and military equipment are displayed outside the exhibition space.

The exhibition will include various activities such as product demonstrations and experiences, business networking, international military trade promotion, and in-depth technical presentations to provide technological solutions, update information, and address issues encountered in the operation of weapons and technical equipment.

In addition, the exhibition also features activities introducing the culture, country, and people of Vietnam, as well as the glorious traditions and achievements of the Vietnam People's Army over the past 80 years.

At the same time, the exhibition also shared Vietnam's foreign and defense policies and guidelines; its strategy for building the army and developing the defense industry.

The exhibition aims to strengthen and expand international cooperation and defense diplomacy, build trust between Vietnam and countries around the world; share defense foreign policy and guidelines; promote the building of the army and the development of the defense industry; and create opportunities for countries, domestic and international companies and businesses to introduce and display products and seek opportunities to expand cooperation.

Furthermore, the exhibition contributes to strengthening international cooperation in the defense industry, diversifying channels for procurement, acquisition, and technology transfer to produce technical and logistical equipment to meet the requirements of the armed forces; understanding the development trends of weapons and technical equipment worldwide to propose, select, procure, produce, and improve weapons and equipment for the military; promoting and publicizing the capabilities and technological potential of weapons and equipment produced by Vietnam's defense industry to international friends and the people at home; and seeking opportunities to export defense industry products.
