The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has just released a quick report on the situation and disease prevention activities in the area over the past week. Specifically, regarding the monkeypox situation, the city's health sector has just discovered 4 new cases. Currently, the cases are being treated stably.

Regarding hand, foot and mouth disease, from the beginning of 2023 to now, 28,248 cases have been recorded, 318 of which are being treated in hospital, of which 41 are severe.

In response to the continuous recording of monkeypox cases in Ho Chi Minh City and some southern provinces, the Ministry of Health has just requested the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health to strengthen monitoring and prevention work according to the Ministry of Health's instructions. In particular, it is important to proactively, coordinate, and promptly investigate all cases of contact with positive monkeypox cases to identify the source of infection in order to thoroughly manage and handle the outbreak and prevent the disease from spreading to the community. At the same time, it is necessary to step up communication in many forms to the people about the monkeypox epidemic situation and prevention measures, so as not to cause unnecessary panic and anxiety among the people.

The Ministry of Health also requested the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City to continue to support and promptly guide localities and units in the area to monitor, collect samples, diagnose, prevent infection and handle monkeypox outbreaks.

* On October 9, the Binh Duong Provincial Department of Health coordinated with the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City and the Dermatology Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City to conduct training on identification, treatment, monitoring, and handling of monkeypox outbreaks.

Accordingly, the units informed about some cases of the disease, implemented disease surveillance and prevention work according to the instructions of the Ministry of Health to detect cases early; promptly investigate, collect specimens, test to identify the agent, and prevent the disease from spreading. Up to now, Binh Duong province has recorded 2 cases of monkeypox. These cases were treated promptly so their health is stable.
