Education in patriotism
As a locality rich in revolutionary traditions, the inauguration and handover of two "National Flag Roads" by the Dien Ban town government on the roads leading to the Memorial House of Heroic Vietnamese Mother Nguyen Thi Thu and the house of the parents of Heroic Martyr Nguyen Van Troi in Dien Thang Trung ward is even more meaningful to the people here.
Walking along the streets in Thanh Quyt 4, Thanh Quyt 2... neighborhoods, one sees a scene of well-maintained, clean, and beautiful village roads and alleys. Along both sides of the road, rows of green trees and flowerbeds are vying to show off their colors.
In particular, the image of the red flag with a yellow star fluttering in the wind has added vibrancy to the revolutionary countryside of Dien Thang Trung. Regularly, every two months, the Dien Thang Trung Ward Youth Union, along with youth union members from various neighborhoods, organizes maintenance to ensure the project is always in the best possible condition.
Mr. Truong Cong Phat, Head of Thanh Quyt 4 neighborhood, shared: “As a land rich in revolutionary traditions, placing the ‘National Flag Road’ leading to the home of the parents of the heroic martyr Nguyen Van Troi has great significance, especially in deeply evoking love for our homeland. Every time we walk along the National Flag Road, we feel proud and remember the sacrifice of Anh Troi so that today's generation can have a prosperous and happy life.”
Small model, big impact
For a long time, people have been displaying the national flag on major national holidays; however, this practice has not been standardized in every residential area, thus failing to meet aesthetic and solemn requirements.
Based on that reality, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dien Trung commune, in coordination with the People's Committee of the commune, launched the "National Flag Road" model. Officials and people participated in attaching and hanging flags in a uniform and aesthetically pleasing manner. This is a very meaningful activity to practically celebrate the important national holidays.
According to Mr. Pham Phu Long, Chairman of the Dien Trung Commune People's Committee, the "National Flag Road" model has been actively embraced and participated in by Party members, officials, and a large number of people.
To date, most roads in Dien Trung commune have had national flags installed and displayed right in front of their gates by local households, ensuring uniformity and aesthetic appeal.
Dien Trung commune also awarded 2 first prizes and 2 second prizes to collectives and commended 8 individuals in the 2025 "National Flag Road" decoration contest.
“In the coming time, the local authorities will widely disseminate information to organizations and people in the commune to continue implementing the model on new roads. This will create a strong shift in the awareness and understanding of people regarding displaying the national flag during holidays, festivals, and important national and local events, thereby fostering national pride,” said Mr. Pham Phu Long.
The construction of the "National Flag Road" in Dien Ban is a good initiative that attracts participation and spreads patriotic spirit among the people.
In particular, during the implementation process, the Front Committees, People's Committees, and mass organizations in residential areas throughout the town coordinated well and consistently served as the core forces in propaganda and mobilization. This created consensus among the people, who voluntarily contributed to the construction of the national flag road, clearly demonstrating the principle of the state and the people working together.
With the aim of serving the purpose of decoration and propaganda during holidays and festivals, in the coming time, the Dien Ban Town Youth Union will continue to research and expand the "National Flag Road" model to communes and wards in the town. This will effectively carry out traditional education and promote the pioneering and volunteer role of Dien Ban youth in participating in the "National Unity for Building New Rural Areas and Civilized Urban Areas" campaign, creating a beautiful landscape on streets and rural roads. At the same time, it will contribute to educating patriotism and revolutionary ideals for the younger generation.
