(NLDO)- A high school student in Dong Nai loaned money to his friend at an interest rate 12-28 times higher.

On February 8, Phu Lap Commune Police (Tan Phu District, Dong Nai Province) filed a case to handle administrative violations against a student who committed loan sharking in the area.

Police agencies disseminate the law to students and parents related to the loan sharking case.

Previously, on January 13, after a high school in the area reported signs of students engaging in loan sharking, Phu Lap Commune Police stepped in to verify.

Initially, the police determined that PTH (born in 2007) lent two students: H.D.H. (born in 2006) and PVHP (born in 2006, both residing in Ta Lai commune) a total of 17 million VND with an interest rate 12-28 times higher than the current regulations. PTH illegally profited more than 10 million VND.

During further investigation, the police discovered that PTH borrowed 7 million VND from D.TAK (born 2008, residing in Phu Lap commune) and D.TAK earned more than 400,000 VND (not exceeding 5 times the highest interest rate according to the provisions of the 2015 Civil Code).

With this borrowed money, PTH lent it to his classmates at a higher interest rate to make a profit.

PTH's total illegal profits were less than 30 million VND, so he was not prosecuted criminally but only punished administratively.
