Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Viet Cuong presented Vietnam's consistent foreign policy, emphasizing its commitment to the principles of multilateralism, independence - autonomy and respect for international law.
The Ambassador also reviewed Vietnam's positive contributions at regional and global forums such as ASEAN, APEC, the United Nations and CPTPP.
Regarding bilateral relations, the Ambassador affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to the comprehensive partnership with Chile - the first country in Latin America to sign a Free Trade Agreement with Vietnam in 2011 and it officially took effect in 2014. The Ambassador proposed many practical cooperation directions, including defense - security, renewable energy, trade - investment and people-to-people exchange.
In particular, the Ambassador emphasized the role of parliamentary cooperation in consolidating the political foundation and creating momentum to promote bilateral relations, through delegation exchanges and sharing legislative experiences in the fields of digital transformation, sustainable development, gender equality, etc.
