This year, Hanoi has 247 students from 13 teams in the following subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, Literature, History, Geography, English, Russian, French, Chinese, Japanese, and German, participating in the National Excellent Student Examination.
At the ceremony, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training announced the total reward money for students and teachers who achieved high results in national and international competitions, amounting to nearly 23 billion VND.
According to Hanoi's decision on awarding prizes to students and teachers with high achievements in national and international competitions, students will receive 300 million VND for winning a Gold Medal at the International Olympiad; 200 million VND for winning a Silver Medal at the International Olympiad; 150 million VND for winning a Bronze Medal at the International Olympiad; and 100 million VND for receiving an Encouragement Award…
The group of teachers whose students win medals or awards will receive 70% of the student's reward.
At the ceremony, two students from Hanoi Amsterdam High School for Gifted Students were awarded over 600 million VND.
Among them, Nguyen Luong Thai Duy received the highest reward of 365 million VND for achieving a Gold Medal at the International Biology Olympiad; First Prize in the city-level excellent student competition; and First Prize in the national-level excellent student competition.

Nguyen Manh Tuan, a student from Hanoi Amsterdam High School for Gifted Students, was awarded 350 million VND for achieving a Gold Medal at the International Chemistry Olympiad and first prize in the national excellent student competition.
The teaching staff of Hanoi Amsterdam High School for Gifted Students received the highest monetary reward of 805 million VND for their achievements in training one student to win a Gold Medal and one student to win a Bronze Medal in the 2025 International Biology Olympiad; and training students to win 5 First Prizes, 8 Second Prizes, 3 Third Prizes, and 2 Consolation Prizes in the 2024-2025 National Excellent Student Competition.

The group of teachers received a reward of 749 million VND for their achievements in mentoring one student to win a Gold Medal at the International Chemistry Olympiad; and mentoring students to achieve 5 first prizes, 6 second prizes, 6 third prizes, and 1 consolation prize in the national excellent student competition in the 2024-2025 school year.

Speaking at the ceremony, Standing Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council Tran The Cuong emphasized that for many years, Hanoi has consistently led the country in both the number and quality of awards in the national excellent student selection exam. The results achieved by students have created motivation and contributed to strongly promoting the emulation movement of good teaching and good learning, with a profound and widespread impact on all levels of education.
According to Mr. Cuong, among the 247 students in the national excellent student competition team this year, many come from schools with rich traditions and achievements in selecting and training national excellent students, but there are also quite a few from public and private high schools. "Even schools with lower entrance exam scores still have outstanding students participating in the national excellent student competition team, which is something to be very proud of," Mr. Cuong said.
The national excellent student selection exam for the 2025-2026 school year, organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, will take place on December 25th and 26th with more than 6,700 students participating.
