According to the special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, within the framework of the official visit to Indonesia, at noon on August 4, at the headquarters of the Indonesian House of Representatives, after the welcoming ceremony, talks and signing of a cooperation agreement, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and Chairman of the People's Representative Council (House of Representatives) of Indonesia Puan Maharani co-chaired a press meeting between the two countries to announce the results of the talks.

At the meeting, Speaker of the House of Representatives Puan Maharani once again expressed his pleasure in welcoming National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue to visit Indonesia to discuss solutions to further strengthen bilateral relations; and thanked Vietnam for its support for Indonesia in its role as Chair of ASEAN and Chair of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).
Ms. Puan Maharani shared: "We very much welcome the cooperation between the two countries and the importance of stability in the region through diplomatic relations. We had the opportunity to discuss the role of parliaments in achieving the set goals in bilateral trade which is currently around 11 billion USD. We also look forward to further strengthening the cooperation between the two countries in the fields of education, culture... I hope this will be an opportunity for the two countries to strengthen bilateral relations and upgrade the relationship to a new level."
The Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives affirmed that the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Indonesia has a long tradition, starting from the close relationship between the first President of Indonesia, Sukarno, and President Ho Chi Minh. She emphasized: "Currently, the relationship between the two countries is a strategic partnership, as close as brothers", and expressed hope that the talks will help further strengthen the cooperative relationship between the Indonesian House of Representatives and the National Assembly of Vietnam.
Speaking to the press of the two countries, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue announced that at the talks, the two sides had in-depth discussions on cooperation between the two countries and the two legislative bodies and discussed measures to further deepen the traditional friendship and strategic partnership between the two sides.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue emphasized that the signing of a new cooperation agreement between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Indonesian House of Representatives will contribute to deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries in all fields and promoting the elevation of bilateral relations to new heights in the coming time.
Both sides share the same perception that, in the development of the world economy, especially in the current unstable situation in the world, the legislative bodies of the two countries need to promote and supervise the two governments, along with enhancing trade facilitation for each other, maintaining existing supply chains, closely cooperating to form new strategic supply chains in which both sides have strengths to create high value-added industrial products and strengthen cooperation in the fields of equitable energy transition, safe digital transformation and agriculture, fisheries, etc.
The two sides also discussed and agreed to strengthen coordination between the two countries' parliaments at regional and international parliamentary forums, especially the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF), and support each other's stance on international and regional issues of mutual concern.
The National Assembly Chairman assessed that the Vietnam-Indonesia strategic partnership is being developed comprehensively in both breadth and depth, actively contributing to a dynamic, inclusive and sustainable regional structure based on international law; at the same time, he emphasized that Vietnam and Indonesia are naturally close partners, and the potential for cooperation between the two countries is enormous. Indonesia and Vietnam have full will, aspiration and determination to cooperate to jointly realize the aspiration of becoming prosperous and developed countries.
