The First Emulation Congress of Dong Thap Province was a special political event, marking a turning point and a new momentum for Dong Thap after the success of the First Provincial Party Congress and the reorganization of administrative units.
Speaking at the congress, Mr. Tran Tri Quang, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province, respectfully praised, thanked, and honored the silent efforts and contributions of exemplary collectives and individuals in the patriotic emulation movement of the province.
According to Mr. Tran Tri Quang, President Ho Chi Minh taught during his lifetime: "Competition is patriotism, patriotism requires competition, and those who compete are the most patriotic." Bearing in mind this sacred teaching, over the past five years, patriotic emulation movements in the province have been implemented extensively, substantively, and creatively, creating a tremendous driving force, arousing the will to overcome difficulties, the spirit of unity, and the aspiration for progress of the entire Party and people, making a significant contribution to the great achievements of the province.
Movements such as "For the poor - Leaving no one behind," "Competing in innovation and digital transformation," and "Digital literacy for the masses"... have truly spread widely, creating a vibrant and consistent atmosphere of competition across all sectors and levels.
In addition, many thematic movements bearing the distinctive mark of Dong Thap have also been strongly launched, such as: "500 days and nights of building expressways," which has made a significant contribution to completing the transportation system and connecting inter-regions. For the period 2020-2025, the average GRDP growth rate of Dong Thap province is expected to reach 5.51%; the average GRDP per capita is estimated at 85.5 million VND; and the poverty rate has decreased significantly to only 0.81%...
However, some emulation movements are still being implemented slowly, lacking depth, and remaining largely superficial. The work of summarizing and replicating best practices is not being done regularly or promptly. These shortcomings require us to innovate more strongly so that emulation movements truly become self-driven forces, more closely linked to development tasks and the lives of the people, with the people as the center and the subject of the movement.
The Resolution of the First Congress of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee, for the 2025-2030 term, has set forth ambitious goals, with 14 key indicators and 5 strategic breakthroughs in transportation infrastructure, agriculture, industry, human resources, and science and technology. In particular, the target of achieving an average economic growth rate of 9% per year, and striving to reach 10% or more by the end of the term, is a historic target for the province.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province called on the entire political system, the business community, and the people of the province to join forces, work together, and make the highest efforts and determination through concrete and practical emulation actions to achieve great results and successfully implement the Resolution of the 1st Provincial Party Congress and the 5-year socio-economic development plan 2025-2030. The goal is to build Dong Thap province into a rapidly and sustainably developing province in the key economic region of the Mekong Delta and the Southern region.
During the period 2021-2025, Dong Thap province received 212 Labor Orders of various grades from the President of Vietnam; 68 Emulation Flags and 1,151 Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister; and 3 National Emulation Soldiers. In addition, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province also awarded 458 Emulation Flags, 22,836 Outstanding Labor Collectives, 42,092 Certificates of Merit, and 451 Provincial-level Emulation Soldiers.
