Dong Thap is determined to become a province with sustainable development in the key economic region of the Mekong Delta.

On October 24, in Cao Lanh ward, Dong Thap province held the 1st Dong Thap Province Patriotic Emulation Congress, period 2025 - 2030.

The 1st Dong Thap Provincial Patriotic Emulation Congress is a special political event, marking a turning point and a new spirit of Dong Thap after the success of the 1st Provincial Party Congress and the work of administrative unit arrangement.

Speaking at the congress, Mr. Tran Tri Quang, Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee respectfully commended, thanked and honored the silent efforts and contributions of typical advanced collectives and individuals in the province's patriotic emulation movement.

According to Mr. Tran Tri Quang, during his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh taught: "Competition is patriotism, patriotism requires emulation, and those who emulate are the most patriotic." Keeping in mind that sacred teaching, in the past 5 years, patriotic emulation movements in the province have been widely deployed, substantially and creatively, creating a great driving force, arousing the will to overcome difficulties, the spirit of solidarity and the aspiration to rise of the entire Party and people, contributing significantly to the great achievements of the province.

Movements such as: "For the poor - No one is left behind", "Competition for innovation and digital transformation", "Digital education for all"... have truly spread widely, creating a vibrant and equal competitive atmosphere in all sectors and levels.

In addition, many thematic movements bearing the mark of Dong Thap were also strongly launched, such as: "500 days and nights of building highways" which have made an important contribution to completing the transportation system and inter-regional connections. In the period of 2020 - 2025, such as: Dong Thap province's GRDP growth rate reached an average of 5.51%; GRDP per capita is estimated at 85.5 million VND; the poverty rate has decreased sharply, to only 0.81%...

However, there are still some emulation movements that are slow to be implemented, lacking depth, and still formal. The work of summarizing and replicating typical examples is not regular and timely. These limitations require us to innovate more strongly, so that the emulation movement must truly be a self-motivated force, more closely linked to the development task, to the people's lives, with "the people as the center" and the subject of the movement.

The Resolution of the 1st Congress of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030, has set out determined goals, with 14 main targets and 5 strategic breakthroughs in transport infrastructure, agriculture, industry, human resources and science and technology. In particular, the target of an average economic growth of 9% per year and striving to reach 10% or more by the end of the term - is a historic target for the province.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province called on the entire political system, business community and people of the province to join hands, make the highest efforts and determination, with specific and practical emulation actions to reap many great achievements, successfully implement the Resolution of the 1st Provincial Party Congress and the 5-year Socio-Economic Development Plan 2025 - 2030. Determined to build Dong Thap province into a fast-growing and sustainable province in the key economic region of the Mekong Delta and the Southern region.

During the period of 2021 - 2025, Dong Thap was awarded 212 Labor Medals of all classes by the President; 68 Emulation Flags, 1,151 Certificates of Merit by the Prime Minister; 3 National Emulation Fighters. In addition, the Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee also awarded 458 Emulation Flags, 22,836 Excellent Labor Collectives, 42,092 Certificates of Merit, 451 Provincial Emulation Fighters.
