After more than 6 years of not doing any project, a company had 40,000m2 of land confiscated by Ca Mau.

According to Dan Tri reporter's source, the People's Committee of Ca Mau province has just decided to reclaim more than 40,000 square meters of land from Quang Ben Environmental Treatment Company Limited (Quang Ben Company) in Cai Nuoc district (Ca Mau province).

This company was leased the above land by Ca Mau province to carry out the investment project to build a waste-to-energy and renewable energy plant in 2017.

From 2017 to present, Quang Ben Company has not put the land into use to implement investment projects, violating land laws.

Previously, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ca Mau province inspected the management and use of land to implement the Waste-to-Energy and Renewable Energy Plant project of Quang Ben Company.

According to the inspection agency, the company was granted land lease by the People's Committee of Ca Mau province in June 2017.

During the process of completing the procedures, Quang Ben Company requested to adjust the project investment policy many times. In the last time in June 2020, the unit expected the progress of investment, construction, putting into operation and operating the project in the second quarter of 2022.

As of July 2023, the investment registration certificate has expired but the company has not been renewed by the competent authority. The company has not invested in site clearance or constructed any construction items on the land.

Currently, the land location is no longer suitable for the purpose of this project.

The Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ca Mau province proposed that the Provincial People's Committee not approve the extension of land use and reclaim the above land from Quang Ben Company. This unit also requested to consider adjusting the project location to a suitable location.
