This morning, July 1, the People's Council of Quang Tri province, term VIII, 2021-2026, solemnly held its first session, the first session after the ceremony to announce the merger of Quang Tri and Quang Binh provinces into the new Quang Tri province. At the meeting, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Long Hai announced the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the appointment of Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Heads of Provincial People's Council Committees.

Accordingly, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Dang Quang was appointed to hold the position of Chairman of the People's Council of Quang Tri province for the 2021-2026 term; appointed to hold the position of Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Quang Tri province for the 2021-2026 term for comrades: Nguyen Chien Thang, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Tran Huy and Le Vinh The, members of the Provincial Party Committee. The Resolution also appointed 4 comrades to hold the position of Head of Committees of the Provincial People's Council for the 2021-2026 term.

Proposing the Provincial People's Council and the political system to focus on implementing 6 key tasks: Urgently and effectively operate the two-level apparatus; innovate governance, boldly deploy the model without intermediate levels; promote administrative reform, digital government, clear decentralization, and improve people's satisfaction.

Continue to promote democracy, intelligence and consensus in decision-making; strengthen supervision, especially thematic supervision; innovate the organization of People's Council sessions; maintain solidarity, consensus and prepare well for the Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term with documents clearly demonstrating the vision, aspirations and identity of the new Quang Tri.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Dang Quang expressed his deep gratitude for the trust of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, which recommended him to the National Assembly Standing Committee to appoint him as Chairman of the People's Council. This is a great honor, but also a heavy responsibility, especially in the context that Quang Tri province has just entered a new development stage after the merger.

On behalf of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council, he accepted the profound instructions of the Provincial Party Secretary and affirmed that, in response to the urgent requirements of a newly established province, the 8th Provincial People's Council will continue to improve operational efficiency, promptly issue appropriate policies and solutions to effectively implement the resolutions and conclusions of the Central Committee and the Provincial Party Committee and meet local practical requirements.

As Chairman of the 8th Provincial People's Council, he will strive to fulfill his duties well, listen to the people's opinions, continue to innovate and improve the quality of the People's Council's activities in accordance with the spirit of current laws. In the immediate future, the Provincial People's Council will focus on reviewing the system of legal documents, perfecting working regulations, promptly institutionalizing policies and guidelines, ensuring that the new government apparatus operates synchronously, effectively and efficiently.

He will join the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council in inheriting the experience of previous terms, promoting the strength of the entire political system and the support of the people, fully performing responsibilities before the Provincial People's Council and competent authorities, while maintaining close ties with the Provincial Party Committee, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, agencies, organizations and voters throughout the province.

The meeting announced 3 resolutions on personnel work of the Provincial People's Council and People's Committee; listened to and considered 4 reports, draft resolutions and voted to pass 20 resolutions with high consensus.

Closing the session, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Dang Quang affirmed: The adopted resolutions are the important legal foundation and practical basis for the new government apparatus to operate stably and effectively right from the start.

The Provincial People's Council requests the Provincial People's Committee and all levels and sectors to seriously and synchronously implement the resolutions; at the same time, continue to review and improve the organizational apparatus and management mechanism, improve the effectiveness and efficiency of operations. The Provincial People's Council and People's Committee need to promote the spirit of solidarity, courage, innovation, creativity, and arouse the strength of the entire political system and the people, realizing the aspiration of making Quang Tri a dynamic growth pole of the North Central region.
