On the morning of December 27th, at the National Funeral Home (5 Tran Thanh Tong Street, Hanoi), the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam , the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and the family solemnly held the funeral ceremony for General Nguyen Quyet, former Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party in the 6th term, former Vice Chairman of the State Council, former Deputy Minister of National Defense, and former Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, according to the State funeral protocol.
The coffin of General Nguyen Quyet is laid in state at the National Funeral Home (No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong Street, Hanoi ).
The State Funeral Committee is headed by Mr. Tran Cam Tu, Member of the Political Bureau, Standing Member of the Secretariat, and Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee .
General Nguyen Quyet (birth name Nguyen Tien Van, born August 20, 1922; hometown: Chinh Nghia commune, Kim Dong district, Hung Yen province; residing at 2/4 Yecxanh Street, Pham Dinh Ho ward, Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi) joined the revolution in 1939; joined the Party in May 1940. He was a member of the Central Executive Committee of the Party in the 4th, 5th, and 6th terms; Secretary of the Central Committee in the 6th term; Vice Chairman of the State Council in the 8th term (now Vice President of Vietnam).
He was also a former Standing Committee Member of the Central Military Commission; Deputy Minister of National Defense; Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army; and a Member of the National Assembly in the 4th, 7th, and 8th terms.

After a period of serious illness, despite the dedicated care and treatment from the Party, the State, a team of professors, doctors, and his family, due to his advanced age and weakened health, General Nguyen Quyet passed away at 9:09 PM on December 23rd (corresponding to November 23rd in the year of the Dragon) at the Central Military Hospital 108, at the age of 102.
