The model of growing cu neo trees to sell as specialty vegetables, delicious wild vegetables, and clean vegetables of Mr. Lam Van Son's family, a farmer in Ward 7, Vi Thanh City, Hau Giang Province, is bringing high economic efficiency.

A typical example of the conversion of crop and livestock structure to bring high economic efficiency is the household of Mr. Lam Van Son, residing in area 2, ward 7, Vi Thanh city, Hau Giang province.

His family has 6,000 square meters of land for growing fruit trees that are ineffective and have low productivity due to acid sulfate soil. Growing fruit trees is not economically efficient, so he decided to switch to growing more suitable vegetables.

After a period of research, learning, and selecting vegetable varieties suitable for his land, he realized that rau cu neo - a specialty vegetable that grows wild in ditches - grows and develops very well on alum-contaminated soil.

The water fern is a delicious, clean vegetable that does not cost much to buy seeds, is inexpensive, easy to care for, and is very popular in the market, so we decided to grow water fern to take advantage of the existing water surface area of 2,000m2.

Mr. Lam Van Son shared: The water fern plant is very easy to grow, and the seeds do not cost money to buy. He mainly collects wild water fern plants to grow.

After two months of taking care of his family, Mr. Son started harvesting the young shoots of the water spinach. Every day he picked 20 kg of young shoots of the water spinach.

The selling price of this type of wild vegetable is 15,000 VND/kg. He brings the wild vegetable to the markets, and earns 200,000 VND every day.

With 2,000m2 of growing rau cu neo - a specialty vegetable, Mr. Lam Van Son's family has an income of 60 million VND/year, after deducting expenses, the profit is 50 million VND.

Mr. Lam Van Son, a typical example of crop restructuring in Ward 7, Vi Thanh City, Hau Giang Province, added: Watercress is a very easy-to-grow plant, low cost, low care and low risk compared to some other crops.

In particular, growing this type of wild vegetable and field vegetable has a year-round income source. He will continue to maintain and expand this model to increase income and stabilize his family's life.
