Earlier this week, experts from the Project on Transforming Pest Management Practices on Coffee, Tea, and Pepper Farms in Vietnam visited and learned about the effectiveness of project implementation at Doan Ket Agricultural Service Cooperative and some households in Dak Song and Cu Jut districts, Dak Nong province.
Experts highly appreciate farmers and cooperatives in Dak Nong for taking strong actions in applying integrated pest management in their gardens. Thanks to that, many farmers and cooperatives in Dak Nong have gradually minimized harmful impacts on the environment, ensured safe agricultural production, and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
The project to transform pest management practices on coffee, tea, and pepper farms in Vietnam will be implemented from 2022-2025 in Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Dak Nong, Binh Phuoc, Tuyen Quang, and Phu Tho.
In Dak Nong, the project has built 6 models applying integrated pest management, with a total area of nearly 15 hectares of pepper.
The project focuses on the use of agrochemicals on coffee, tea and pepper farms in Vietnam with the aim of minimizing negative impacts on climate and biodiversity.
In Ba Ria Vung Tau, according to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Chau Duc district, the whole district has 5,077 hectares of pepper; the harvested area is 4,928 hectares, the output reaches 9,856 tons of dry pepper/crop.

Mr. Than Xuan Dong, Vice Chairman of the Farmers’ Association of Chau Duc District, said that the conversion to clean and organic farming methods has partly restored the position of pepper plants. Through the actual inspection of the Farmers’ Association of the district, currently most households cultivating clean and organic pepper standards have stable incomes, are committed to long-term cultivation and can live well from this crop.
