The agreement to establish the above cooperation mechanism was signed by Minister Nguyen Hong Dien and Mr. Tim Ayres, Australian Minister of Trade and Manufacturing on the afternoon of March 5, 2024 and was handed over by both sides in the presence of the Prime Ministers of the two countries on the morning of March 7, 2024.

This is an important cooperation mechanism through which the Ministers of the two sides will discuss, promote cooperation and remove difficulties in the fields of energy and minerals. At the same time, this is also the basis for Australia to continue to be a partner in providing important and sustainable materials such as coal and LNG for the electricity, energy and fertilizer production sectors in Vietnam.

The Ministerial-level dialogue mechanism on energy and minerals is expected to help the two sides maximize the advantages and cooperation opportunities that the two sides have such as coal, minerals, LNG, etc., contributing to the implementation of the two countries' new cooperation goals within the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership announced by the Prime Ministers of the two countries on the same day, March 7, 2024.
