Coast Guard Region 3 strengthens coordination to protect sovereignty of coastal waters and islands

On the afternoon of October 9, Ship CSB 8001 docked at the port of Squadron 301 (Coast Guard Region 3), completing the mission of carrying a working delegation to survey and grasp the situation of coastal seas and islands.

During the 3 days, the working group chaired by the Command of Coast Guard Region 3, in coordination with Dong Thap, Vinh Long and Ho Chi Minh City provinces, conducted a survey from Ho Chi Minh City to Vinh Long province. This is one of the important political tasks of Coast Guard Region 3, combining the work of grasping the situation, patrolling, inspecting, controlling and preventing IUU fishing.

The activity contributes to enhancing coordination and information exchange between the Coast Guard with local authorities, armed forces and people of provinces and cities under their management; at the same time, helping units and localities to propose measures to improve the effectiveness of the fight against violations at sea, minimizing IUU fishing.

During the trip, the delegation offered flowers and incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs at Hang Duong cemetery (Con Dao); presented 143 gifts worth 391 million VND to the Party Committee, People's Committee, armed forces, policy families, fishermen and students in difficult circumstances. The delegation also presented national flags, life jackets and propaganda materials to fishermen.

In addition, the Coast Guard coordinated to inspect and propagate to a cargo ship and 35 Vietnamese fishing boats about compliance with the law on preventing and combating IUU fishing.
