8-year-old boy drowned while retrieving ball from canal

On the evening of September 9, speaking with Thanh Nien reporter, the leader of Thanh Cong Commune People's Committee (Khoai Chau District, Hung Yen ) said that in the commune, an incident had just occurred in which a boy drowned and died.

According to initial information, at around 4:00 p.m. the same day, D.MT (8 years old, residing in Huong Quat village, Thanh Cong commune) was playing soccer with a friend in the same village. At this time, the ball fell into the irrigation canal. Seeing this, T. waded into the canal to retrieve the ball but unfortunately drowned. Seeing this, his friend called nearby people for help.

Local people gathered to witness the authorities searching for the drowned child T.

At 5:15 p.m. the same day, T. was found dead in the canal. The local authorities informed Thanh Cong Commune Police to come to the scene to make a record of the incident.

Authorities determined that T. died from a drowning accident. At the same time, the family wished not to conduct a forensic examination. The authorities handed over T.'s body to the family for burial according to custom.
