Transforming the food system towards transparency - responsibility - sustainability

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Pham Tan Hoa and Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development - Dinh Thi Phuong Khanh co-chaired at the Long An bridge point.

The general objective of the National Action Plan to transform the food system towards transparency - responsibility - sustainability is to transform the food system from production, processing, distribution to consumption towards transparency, responsibility and sustainability, based on local advantages; firmly ensure national food and nutrition security; improve people's income and quality of life; prevent and combat natural disasters, epidemics, protect the environment, respond to climate change; contribute to the implementation of sustainable development goals by 2030 in Vietnam and globally.

By 2030, rural residents' income will be 2.5 to 3 times higher than in 2020; the rate of multidimensional poverty in rural areas will decrease by an average of 1 to 1.5% per year; the rate of households with severe and moderate food insecurity will be below 5%; food export turnover will be maintained at over 30 billion USD per year; the rate of stunting malnutrition in children under 5 years old will be below 15%; the rate of wasting malnutrition in children under 5 years old will be below 3%; the rate of overweight and obesity in children under 5 years old will be below 10%; children from 5 to 18 years old will be below 19%; adults from 19 to 64 years old will be below 20%;...

At the conference, delegates learned and discussed topics such as healthy diet, food diversity, ensuring proper nutrition; green consumption and investment promotion programs, connecting markets for Vietnamese agricultural products; food loss and waste in Vietnam;...

In his concluding remarks, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development - Le Minh Hoan said that the strategy for sustainable agricultural and rural development for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, is built on the perspective of responsible, modern, efficient and sustainable agricultural production; developing ecological, organic, circular, low-carbon, environmentally friendly agriculture; developing agriculture and rural areas associated with resource conservation and adaptation to climate change. Therefore, transforming the LTTP system towards transparency - responsibility - sustainability is very important.

At the same time, the Minister emphasized that to successfully transform the LTTP system, it is necessary to have the companionship and support of sponsors, international partners, research agencies, the business sector, the private sector and the people to join hands to implement the Government 's priority directions./.
