When the quintessence of mountains and forests is "named" by the OCOP brand

(GLO)- From products imbued with the identity of the Central Highlands mountains and forests to brands reaching out to international markets, the "One Commune One Product" (OCOP) program has been making a clear mark in the rural economic development of Gia Lai province.

Each OCOP product not only represents quality and prestige, but also the aspiration to enhance the value of local characteristics, bringing the Gia Lai brand far and wide.

Currently, Gia Lai province has more than 900 OCOP products, of which 92 products have achieved 4-star and 5-star ratings, many of which have export potential. These figures reflect the innovation and creativity efforts of enterprises, cooperatives and production households, and at the same time affirm the right direction in developing local agricultural product brands.

A typical example is Phuong Di Bee Honey Cooperative (Gao Commune) - a pioneer when its honey products were recognized as OCOP at the national level in early 2025, becoming the first honey product in the country to meet the 5-star OCOP standard. Currently, the Cooperative is collaborating to raise and exploit about 15,000 honey bee colonies in Gia Lai and some other localities in the country, with an output of nearly 200 tons of honey/year.

Thorough investment in production processes, processing technology and international quality standards has helped Phuong Di Honey products and honey products of the Cooperative not only be widely available domestically, on e-commerce platforms, but also be exported to Korea, France, especially China.

Ms. Tran Thi Hoang Anh - Director of Phuong Di Honey Cooperative - said: "The Cooperative currently has a team of skilled beekeepers and a large raw material area to meet export needs. We have invested in modern machinery systems such as vacuum water bath machines, stamping machines, bottling machines... to meet large orders and ensure international standards."

OCOP certification not only helps products gain a foothold in the domestic market, but is also considered a "passport" for Gia Lai honey to reach out to the world market, contributing to promoting the local image to international friends.

Not only honey, many other businesses in Gia Lai are also making efforts to “distill” the quintessence of the mountains and forests into OCOP products bearing the cultural and culinary imprint of this land. From rustic dishes such as sausages with basil leaves, smoked chicken to dried chicken and dried beef, the products have now been commercialized with codes and clear traceability stamps, meeting quality and safety standards.

Ms. Tran Thi Be - Director of Tran Lam Gia Phat Company Limited (Hoi Phu Ward) - shared: "Currently, the company has 8 OCOP products, all of which are specialties associated with the culinary culture of Gia Lai. We wish to spread this unique flavor to tourists across the country, and at the same time, look for more partners and distributors to expand the market."

Along with product quality, digital transformation and e-commerce are becoming "leverages" to help Gia Lai OCOP products reach consumers faster.

According to content creator Le Phuong Oanh (TikTok channel Phuong Oanh Daily), thanks to social networks and online sales platforms, many consumers in provinces and cities have known and chosen Gia Lai specialties. However, to sell a lot of products, the most important thing is still product quality and brand reputation, and OCOP will be the launching pad.

In fact, the combination of efforts of enterprises and cooperatives with digital media and the province's support policies has helped many local specialties not only bring economic value but also become the pride of Gia Lai people. With the orientation of sustainable development, Gia Lai is continuing to promote trade promotion, connecting consumption and building the OCOP brand.

From typical products such as coffee, honey, pepper, coconut to deeply processed goods, the OCOP program is affirming its role as a "launching pad" to bring Gia Lai products to domestic and international levels.
