According to the video, the young man used his hands to grip the ceiling and the metal bars along the ceiling of Metro Line 1 to perform exercises similar to gymnastics and pull-ups. This took place while the train was crowded with passengers, many of whom were seated in the seats below.
Many people expressed outrage, arguing that this behavior was uncivilized and affected other passengers.
According to Tuoi Tre Online 's investigation, the incident occurred on January 24th, on a metro train on line 1, Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien.
Representatives of the metro line 1 operating unit stated that the young man's actions were inappropriate, potentially causing property damage and affecting the safety and comfort of those around him.
The train carriage is a public space, and the handrails are installed to help passengers maintain balance while the train is in motion, not for exercise or performance.
Hanging from handrails and poles on metro trains poses a safety risk to both the person doing it and other passengers. This action also causes damage to state property and may lead to legal consequences.
The Metro Line 1 Company Limited (the operating unit) stated that although there are always security personnel monitoring on the trains and at the stations, during peak hours or when there are many passengers, some cases are not detected and dealt with immediately.
The unit urged citizens to comply with regulations and contribute to building a metro culture. "We aim to convey the message of a modern, safe, and civilized transportation space where all passengers work together to maintain order and protect public property," a representative of the unit shared.
Create a civilized image when using Metro Line 1.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Safety Board, passengers traveling by train must cooperate with the operating unit to ensure a safe and convenient journey. They should adhere to public conduct rules and relevant regulations to create a civilized and modern image.
Do not use or touch any equipment on the train or in the station without permission. If you have any questions or need assistance, ask the staff for specific instructions. Please note that children under 6 years old must be accompanied by an adult when traveling by train. Disabled people and the elderly will be assisted by staff or their companions to the elevator or priority area in the train carriage.
Recognizing that public feedback is crucial for the metro's increasingly efficient operation, the Traffic Safety Board has collaborated with relevant units to develop a survey questionnaire for metro users. They strongly encourage public participation and feedback to provide the authorities with diverse perspectives, thereby improving the metro's operation and efficiency.
