Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a conference with 9 provinces to urge the progress of the 500kV line circuit 3.

Earlier, the same morning, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his delegation offered incense and flowers at the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Cultural Site in Thanh Hoa city.

On the afternoon of January 27, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh surveyed the site, inspected the construction and gave gifts to encourage the construction forces of the 500kV transmission line circuit 3 project in the four provinces of Thai Binh , Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh and Thanh Hoa.

Also attending the conference were Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, Chairman of the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises Nguyen Hoang Anh, Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang, leaders of ministries, branches, central agencies, Secretaries and Chairmen of 9 provinces where the project passes through (Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh), leaders of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) and related units.

The conference was connected online from the main bridge point of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee headquarters to the People's Committees of the above provinces.

The project consists of 4 component projects; with a total length of about 519km with 1,179 column foundation positions; total investment of about 22,000 billion VND. The project passes through 211 communes and wards of 43 districts and towns in 9 provinces.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that currently, the total power capacity is not lacking (about 75,000 MW, while the available source is about 50,000 MW), but in 2023 there will still be local power shortages, the cause of which is poor management.

Therefore, in 2024, the Prime Minister directed early on to focus on drastic and effective implementation of solutions to ensure electricity supply in 2024 and the following years; at the same time, deploying solutions on personnel work, officials who have not fulfilled their responsibilities to ensure electricity supply in 2023 have been handled and are continuing to be handled according to regulations.

The 500kV line 3 extension project is a key and urgent project, playing an important role in national energy security, especially in the Northern region.

According to the Prime Minister, previously, the construction of the 500kV line 1, about 1,500km long, took about 2 years (completed in 1994). Therefore, the 500kV line 3 from Quang Trach to Pho Noi, about 500km long, if still following the progress of line 1, would take about 1/3 of 2 years. However, with the current better conditions in terms of experience, technology, qualifications..., the construction time must be even shorter, meeting the development requirements of the country.

The spirit of the conference is to continue promoting achievements, overcoming limitations, handling difficulties, and overcoming challenges. The Government, the Prime Minister, ministries, branches, localities, corporations, and general companies carry out tasks in accordance with assigned functions, tasks, and powers, unify will, act together, only discuss work, not retreat, and find solutions to problems that need to be solved.

"This is in the interest of the nation, the people, and the entire people, not the business of any individual. Therefore, together with the main and core units, the entire political system must participate, mobilize total strength to implement, make up for the previous slow progress and time, and be determined to complete and put the project into operation in June 2024," the Prime Minister emphasized.

The Prime Minister noted that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor needs to closely monitor and grasp the situation of workers and laborers at the construction sites of the 500kV line circuit 3 during this Tet holiday, and pay attention and encourage them in appropriate ways.
