According to records, from morning to noon on December 8, National Highway 1 through Vinh My commune, Lang Tron ward, Gia Rai ward, Tan Thanh ward, Ly Van Lam ward, Ca Mau province was still flooded.

The high tide, in some places more than half a motorbike's wheel is submerged, makes it difficult for people to move around, especially for students going to school in the morning and finishing work at noon.

The deeply flooded areas are located next to the Ca Mau - Bac Lieu River, so every time the tide rises, it often causes flooding very quickly, significantly affecting the lives and activities of people in these areas.

Mr. Dang Van Dong (residing in Bac Lieu ward, Ca Mau province) said that high tides causing flooding on National Highway 1 have appeared for 3-4 days now, usually in the morning, causing the travel and daily activities of people in the flooded area to seem to be disrupted, business is sluggish, vehicles move slowly, some people do not dare to drive, have to wait for the water to recede, some people are afraid of being late for work so they are forced to move even though they know the flood water is deep.

According to the flood warning bulletin in Ca Mau province, at Ganh Hao Hydrological Station, on December 8, the water level on Ganh Hao River was 256cm high at 3:30 am.

According to the warning, water levels on rivers and canals in coastal areas will remain high for the next 2-3 days; high tidal amplitude and flow velocity can easily cause erosion and landslides in riverside/canal areas, vulnerable areas, areas outside the dike... risk of flooding in low-lying areas, riverside and coastal areas.

Currently, the water level in the canals and ditches in the fields is at a high level, affecting daily life, production, business... and can be dangerous for people when participating in traffic. The deep flooding time is from 5-9am and 4-8:30pm every day.

Faced with the above situation, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province assigned the Department of Construction to preside over and coordinate with the People's Committees of communes, wards and related units to inspect and review damaged and flooded road sections and locations of sewers with damaged manhole covers.

At the same time, proactively have solutions to prevent, guide and warn traffic participants to avoid accidents and ensure traffic safety for people.

At the same time, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to inspect and review the irrigation system, dykes, embankments, and saltwater prevention sluices to limit water levels on the river and canal systems in Ca Mau from rising due to the impact of heavy rain combined with high tides, causing flooding in urban areas, low-lying areas, riverside and coastal areas.

At the same time, promptly reinforce key positions, guide people to protect crops, livestock, and aquatic products, and implement policies to support production recovery in accordance with regulations.

Faced with the current situation of high tides affecting people's lives and traffic, at the 6th Session (the last session of 2025), the People's Council of Ca Mau province, term X, term 2021 - 2026, held on December 8, Mr. Huynh Chi Nguyen, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, responded to voters' opinions and recommendations.

Specifically, voters reported that the drainage system on National Highway 1 was clogged, and water could not drain. When the tide rose, water overflowed onto the road surface, causing flooding, affecting traffic and people's daily life. Therefore, voters requested the People's Committee of Ca Mau province to direct the authorities to inspect and take measures to remedy the above situation.

Regarding this proposal, Mr. Huynh Chi Nguyen, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, said that he acknowledged the opinions of voters and assigned the Department of Construction to coordinate with Road Management Area IV to direct the construction unit to ensure drainage on the road surface of National Highway 1.

According to records, since the beginning of October 2025, in Ca Mau province, there have been many high tides, causing many inner-city areas, such as Bac Lieu ward, An Xuyen ward, Tan Thanh ward, Ly Van Lam ward... and low-lying areas in rural areas of Ninh Quoi commune, Hong Dan commune, Hoa Binh commune...

In particular, many sections of National Highway 1 through Vinh My commune, Lang Tron ward, Gia Rai ward, Tan Thanh ward... were deeply flooded due to high tides, with some places being flooded with more than 40cm of water, making travel and daily life of people difficult, and business and production activities were also affected.
