On November 5, the Vietnam Journalists Association held a conference on "High-quality journalism in the context of digital transformation to meet the new requirements of the National Press Awards Charter and promote the task of sustainable development in the Central Highlands - Central region", in Tuy Hoa City, Phu Yen Province.

Digital technology application is a matter of survival for journalism

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Comrade Nguyen Duc Loi - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association quoted General Secretary To Lam in an important and strategic article: "Digital transformation - An important driving force for developing productive forces, perfecting production relations, bringing the country into a new era" and stated that digital technology is and will become the basic productive force of most fields, including journalism.

According to him, absorbing opinions and following the new trend, from this year, the Charter has added two new Award groups: Digital Press Product Award and Creative Press and Media Project. "The above addition has proactively followed the Party's new viewpoints and policies, the direction of the General Secretary, in line with the Strategy issued by the Prime Minister and in line with the current practice and general development trend of the press and media", said Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi.

Appreciating the role of the press, comrade Le Tan Ho - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of Phu Yen Provincial People's Committee said that for Phu Yen province, in the socio-economic development of the province in recent times, there have been positive contributions from central and local press agencies.

This clearly shows that the author and group of authors have effective solutions to improve journalistic productivity, save production costs, impact the target audience, effectively impact the public's awareness, attitudes and behaviors, and enhance public participation and interaction towards national, regional and local sustainable development goals.

Leaders of press agencies and local Journalists Associations also shared opinions and asked questions about issues surrounding the application of technology and artificial intelligence in the press production process.
