According to Mr. Ngo Xuan Dong, Chairman of Nam Da Commune People's Committee, in order to promptly repair damaged traffic and infrastructure works caused by flooding, in the immediate future, Nam Da Commune People's Committee proposed Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee and relevant agencies to allocate more than 18.5 billion VND to repair 2 intra-field traffic routes and irrigation canals in Buon Choah fields... In the long term, the Commune People's Committee proposed to soon allocate capital and invest in completing the project of resettlement of residents in the Buon Choah flood area (to be implemented from 2023) to be proactive in arranging and stabilizing residents as well as responding to storms and floods in this area.
Mr. Le The Thang, a farmer with more than 2 hectares of rice fields in Buon Choah field, Nam Da commune, said that the recent floods caused widespread flooding and caused heavy damage to people. Now that the floodwaters have receded, people are actively preparing to sow the winter-spring rice crop. The people's wish is that the local government and relevant agencies will soon repair and restore the traffic roads and canals damaged by natural disasters and floods, so that people can feel secure in cultivating and have a bumper crop.
In Quang Phu commune, Lam Dong province, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ngan Thanh Hai commune said that the People's Committee of the commune has just proposed to the People's Committee of Lam Dong province and relevant agencies to conduct surveys, conduct field inspections and arrange funds to repair some damaged and eroded residential roads due to floods along Dak Nang stream and Xuyen Phuoc and Xuyen Hai villages. The People's Committee of Nam Da commune also requested the Department of Construction of Lam Dong and relevant agencies to survey and assess the safety of Duc Xuyen suspension bridge (crossing Krong No river, connecting Quang Phu commune, Lam Dong province with Nam Ka commune, Dak Lak province). This is a bridge that has landslides on both sides of the bridge abutments, which seriously affects the safety and load-bearing structure of the project.
"After the Duc Xuyen suspension bridge suffered landslides on both sides of the bridge abutment, the People's Committee of Quang Phu commune coordinated with the People's Committee of Nam Ka commune, Dak Lak province to arrange forces to be on duty to regulate traffic 24/7. At the same time, they installed warning signs to limit traffic and limit the traffic load on the bridge. Currently, we are waiting for the authorities to survey and make specific assessments," Mr. Ngan Thanh Hai added.
Quang Phu and Nam Da are two of the three communes along the Krong No River in Lam Dong Province that suffered significant damage due to the floods from November 19 to November 22. According to the report of the People's Committee of Nam Da Commune, the total damage caused by floods in the commune is about 100 billion VND. For Quang Phu Commune, in addition to some damaged bridges and rural roads, the entire commune has nearly 150 hectares submerged in water, causing heavy losses to farmers.
