According to preliminary statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in August 2024, Vietnam exported 19,399 tons of all types of pepper, including 17,391 tons of black pepper and 2,008 tons of white pepper.

Total pepper export value reached US$117.0 million, of which black pepper accounted for US$102.0 million and white pepper for US$15.0 million. Compared to the previous month, export volume decreased by 10.9%, and export value decreased by 9.9%. Compared to August 2023, export volume decreased by 1.1%, but export value increased by 59.4%.
The average export price of black pepper in August reached US$5,891/ton, and white pepper reached US$7,462/ton, an increase of US$30 for black pepper but a decrease of US$96 for white pepper compared to the previous month.
In August, pepper exports to the US market broke all-time records with 8,474 tons, a 43.3% increase compared to July and accounting for 43.7% of the total export market share. Following the US market were Germany with 1,080 tons, a decrease of 23.7%; the UAE with 847 tons, a decrease of 66.2%; and China with only 329 tons, a 45.7% decrease compared to the previous month.
Phuc Sinh was the leading pepper exporter in August, reaching 2,742 tons, a 12.3% increase compared to the previous month and accounting for 14.1% of the export market share. Following closely behind were Olam Vietnam with 2,218 tons (a 17.5% decrease); Haprosimex JSC with 1,967 tons (a 10.1% increase); Nedspice Vietnam with 1,718 tons (an 8.9% decrease); and Lien Thanh with 1,580 tons (a 35.9% increase).
By the end of August, Vietnam had exported 183,756 tons of various types of pepper, including 162,721 tons of black pepper and 21,035 tons of white pepper. Total export value reached US$881.2 million, with black pepper reaching US$754.1 million and white pepper reaching US$127.1 million. Compared to the same period last year, export volume decreased by 2.1%, but export value increased by 43.0%.
The average export price of black pepper in the first eight months reached US$4,712/ton, and white pepper reached US$6,326/ton, an increase of US$1,270 for black pepper and US$1,371 for white pepper respectively compared to the same period last year.
Leading pepper exporting companies include: Olam Vietnam with 18,185 tons, up 50.6%; Phuc Sinh with 16,522 tons, up 61.7%; Nedspice Vietnam with 13,953 tons, up 14.1%; Haprosimex JSC with 13,808 tons, up 77.0%; and Tran Chau with 11,426 tons, down 6.5%… In addition, several companies experienced a surge in export volume, such as Simexco Dak Lak ( up 215.1%), Sinh Loc Phat (up 124.2%), Hanfimex Vietnam (up 94.2%), Intimex Group (up 85.6%), and Lien Thanh (up 60.3%).
Exports to the United States in the first eight months of 2024 reached 51,823 tons, almost equal to the total exports for the whole year of 2023 (54,271 tons), representing a 54.3% increase compared to the same period last year and accounting for 28.2% of the market share.
Next are the markets: Germany with 12,021 tons, up 96.3%; UAE with 11,744 tons, up 29.6%; India with 9,086 tons, up 10.2%; China with 8,388 tons, down 84.4%; Netherlands with 7,503 tons, up 35.9%…
