The whole commune wrapped nearly 2,000 banh chung to offer at Mai Hac De's death anniversary.

King Mai Hac De (670 - 723) real name is Mai Thuc Loan, originally from Mai Lam village, Loc Ha district, Ha Tinh province. Mai Thuc Loan was orphaned at a young age, during his lifetime he was a hero, intelligent, talented and braver than others.

Born in a time of turmoil, not willing to accept the domination of the Northern invaders, he recruited talented people and soldiers from 32 regions, allied with other countries to fight against the Tang Dynasty.

After the Hoan Chau uprising was victorious, the country was liberated, Mai Thuc Loan proclaimed himself emperor and chose Van An citadel (Nam Dan, Nghe An ) as the capital.

Under the reign of Mai Hac De, our country gained independence and autonomy for nearly 10 years (713 - 722).
