Da Lat awarded Asian Festival City award

Da Lat, the city of a thousand flowers in Lam Dong province, has just been awarded the Asian Festival City award by the International Federation of Festivals and Events – Asia (IFEA ASIA).

On the evening of February 28th, at the Asian Festival City Awards and Asian Festival Awards ceremony, part of the 2024 Summit Awards and Asian Festival City Conference held in Thailand, Da Lat city was awarded the Asian Festival City award by the International Festival and Events Association – Asia (IFEA ASIA), based on the successful organization of the "Da Lat Flower Festival" since 2005.

The emblem, presented by IFEA ASIA representatives to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Lat City, Dang Quang Tu, at the event, symbolizes the "Da Lat Flower Festival - Vietnam" being recognized by IFEA ASIA as the "Asian Flower and Ecotourism Festival 2024".

According to the Da Lat City People's Committee, the Da Lat Flower Festival was recognized in the category of "Most Beautiful Flower and Garden Festival," placing it among the top 5 impressive festival cities in Asia.

The Asian Festival Awards also include categories such as Best Music Festival, Best Dance Festival, Best Heritage and Culture Night, Outstanding Asian Folk Festival, Best Entertainment Festival, and more.

These categories were awarded prizes at the Asian Festival City Awards and the Asian Festival Awards.

In December 2023, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Lat City signed the confirmation of the application to participate in the Asian Festival Award.

The document states that the Flower Festival is an activity to honor the value of flowers and the flower cultivation profession, aiming to attract investment in Da Lat's flower industry. At the same time, it promotes the image and beauty of the city, the culture and people of Da Lat, contributing to creating an attractive destination for domestic and international tourists, providing impetus for the development of the tourism and service industry, and promoting and supporting the development of other sectors and fields.

The Da Lat Flower Festival was first held in 2005 and has since been organized every two years. In 2009, Da Lat was recognized by the Prime Minister as the "Flower Festival City of Vietnam". To date, Da Lat has organized nine Flower Festivals, with themes changing each time, revolving around promoting investment in the flower, tea, and silk industries, and developing local tourism.

The Da Lat Flower Festival has become a cultural and tourism event of national and international significance.

According to assessments, through the various Flower Festivals, Da Lat city in particular and Lam Dong province in general have achieved many successes in developing the flower industry and tourism – which are the strengths of the locality.

The Da Lat Flower Festival has left a positive impression on the people and tourists, creating a strong impetus for the remarkable development of flower cultivation and tourism in Da Lat.

Along with the title "Vietnam's Flower Festival City," Da Lat has also received numerous domestic and international awards and certifications such as "ASEAN Sustainable Environmental City," "ASEAN Clean Tourism City," as well as awards like "Vietnam Smart City," "Outstanding City in the Emulation Movement for Building Green, Clean, and Beautiful Cities," and is an official member of the Asia-Pacific Cities Tourism Promotion Organization.
