Accordingly, on international routes, Vietnam Airlines introduces three data packages for passengers to choose from depending on their usage needs.
The $5 messaging package allows unlimited texting throughout the flight; the $10 package offers one hour of web browsing; and the $20 package provides unlimited web browsing for the entire journey.
Passengers can access the connection portal via Wi-Fi from their personal devices and easily select a suitable data plan during the flight.
For domestic flights, the payment system is in the process of being completed. Vietnam Airlines will deploy service sales as soon as this system is standardized in the Vietnamese market.
To introduce and increase access to new technology, in the initial phase, Vietnam Airlines will provide free unlimited web browsing throughout the flight for business class passengers and offer 15 minutes of free messaging on messaging apps such as Zalo, Viber, WhatsApp… to all passengers on both international and domestic routes.
From now until the end of December 2025, Vietnam Airlines will deploy this service on Airbus A350 aircraft that have been equipped with satellite internet connectivity.
In the coming period, Vietnam Airlines will continue to expand the provision of Internet services on other aircraft types, while also coordinating with partners to diversify payment methods and access packages to flexibly meet the needs of each customer group.
Mr. Dang Anh Tuan, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, said that the implementation of in-flight internet service is considered important for both passengers and the airline.
This service enhances the customer experience and creates a competitive advantage for Vietnam Airlines, in its strategy to expand its presence across continents and broaden Vietnam's soft borders.
Currently, the technology infrastructure for in-flight internet services is being deployed in partnership with VNPT , connecting to the US Viasat satellite, allowing passengers to use the internet during flights with stable and secure speeds.
The collaboration between Vietnam Airlines and VNPT will contribute to building modern, internationally-standardized services for Vietnam.
A representative from Vietnam Airlines stated that this service has already been implemented at several high-quality international airlines and is now becoming an almost mandatory standard for airlines aiming to achieve 5-star ratings recognized by customers and reputable international rating organizations.
