Regional customs coordinated to destroy an inter-provincial marijuana trafficking ring of 30kg.

(Chinhphu.vn) - Through sharp professional measures, the Customs force of Region IX coordinated with the police of provinces and cities to discover and destroy a transnational drug trafficking ring, seizing about 30kg of marijuana in three major localities.

Subjects and exhibits seized by authorities

According to information from the Customs Branch of Region IX (including the provinces of Quang Binh , Quang Tri and Hue city), through professional activities and screening of key routes, the Customs Control Team discovered suspicious signs of an inter-provincial drug trafficking ring.

The subjects chose the transportation route from Laos through the border gate in Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province, then found a way to bring the goods deep inland.

It is noteworthy that the group's method of disguising marijuana is very sophisticated under the guise of candy packaging, then mixed with other grocery items such as candy, instant noodles, household appliances, creating packages that look like regular consumer goods. The packages are then consigned via means of transport to be shipped to places such as Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City and Ha Tinh.

The Customs Control Team of Region IX has established a special project. The process of fighting has involved close coordination with many forces: the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department (PC04) of Quang Tri Provincial Police, the Police of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Tinh and the Anti-smuggling Investigation Department of the General Department of Customs.

After having sufficient legal basis and evidence, the units simultaneously carried out inspections and arrests, thereby seizing 30kg of marijuana in 3 locations: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Ha Tinh.

Three subjects directly related to the cases have been arrested. Currently, all documents, evidence and subjects have been handed over to PC04 Department of local police for further investigation.
