When the National Press Award on HIV/AIDS prevention and control was launched, few people imagined that the journey would create such a strong and widespread "media flow".
What makes this year's season special is the participation of hundreds of press agencies from central to local levels, from major newspapers with experienced reporters, to writers working at the Center for Disease Control (CDC) - people who do communication for preventive medicine at the grassroots level every day.

In just a short time, more than 1,200 entries were sent from all over the country.
This is the first time that the local medical media force has "entered the game" in an impressive way, bringing with it the authentic breath of remote villages and vulnerable groups, where the fight against HIV/AIDS has never been simple.
Not only journalists, but also peer educators - those who have been discriminated against and stood on the brink of despair - have picked up their pens and written, telling stories based on their own experiences. Their presence is a strong affirmation that the media is not just about reporting news, but also about each person speaking up to spread hope, faith and sharing.

The entries reflected a vibrant, responsible and deeply humanistic media picture of the fight against HIV/AIDS in Vietnam.
Highlights from emotional writings
The greatest success of the award is not only in the numbers, but in the stories that touch the deepest emotions. These are pages that carry both tears and smiles of the silent characters who help the HIV-infected community; a journey of lifting the spirit, tolerance and standing together in moments that seem impossible to recover from.

This season is special with the participation of hundreds of press agencies from central to local levels.
The award also honors pioneers who dare to experiment and change to save lives. A typical example is Dr. Truong Huu Khanh with his "strange initiative" of dividing ARV pills into smaller ones for HIV-infected children, opening the door of hope for thousands of lives that seemed destined to end.
And there is the image of quiet but resilient doctors, who spent their youth working in a place whose name alone makes anyone understand the harshness: Hospital 09 - the place that "anchors" the weakest lives on the HIV/AIDS treatment journey.
It was journalists who brought them into the light of love and hope, turning their sacrifices into inspirational songs, so that the public could understand that behind the numbers were lives, families, and desires to live like everyone else.
When the pen becomes power
Going through the journey of the award is also going along the changing stages of the fight against HIV/AIDS in Vietnam. From the years when HIV was an obsession, stigma and fear that covered the community; to today, when ARV treatment and pre-exposure prophylaxis PrEP have become popular; when people with HIV can live, study, work like everyone else and confidently build the future; when society gradually opens up, looks with understanding instead of being wary.
In that flow, the 'National Journalism Award on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control' has proven itself to be more than just a professional competition. This is truly a forum of love, of humane voices and community responsibility. There, journalists do not just record information, they listen, accompany, sympathize and contribute to promoting change through each work.

The 'National Press Award on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control' is not only a professional competition but also a forum for love, humane voices and community responsibility.
The award's influence shows a strong belief that through the pen, images and voices of those involved, Vietnam can continue to maintain its achievements and move closer to the goal of "no more discrimination, no more AIDS" by 2030.
The journey of the award may have ended, but the stories told will remain; the characters mentioned will continue to inspire; and the persistent efforts of the medical sector, the press and millions of people living with HIV – it is the silent but enduring strength that contributes to continuing the journey of hope in this humane fight.
